Top 10 Things to Do to Celebrate a 50th Birthday

Updated: Aug 2

As someone who is about to turn 50 and have celebrated friends' 50th lately. I've been searching for some 50th birthday ideas. You only turn 50 once, so you might as well celebrate a 50th birthday with a bang. At 50, you should hopefully have a different perspective on life. If you can still party the night away until 4 a.m. and be functional the next day, more power to you. Let me know what the secret is. Your 50th can be celebrated multiple times: once with family, once with friends, once with just the fellas or ladies, once with your significant other, or maybe you need a solo trip. You can celebrate multiple times. Regardless, there are plenty of things you can do. Here are my top 10 things to do to celebrate a 50th birthday.

Top 10 things to do to celebrate a 50th birthday:

  1. Las Vegas – This is tried and true. Las Vegas should be on everyone's top 10 things to do to celebrate a 50th birthday. Seeing Las Vegas in your late 40s or at 50 is certainly a different perspective. You can certainly do Las Vegas the same way you’ve been doing it for the last 30 years since your 20s, but you can switch it up. Check things off the bucket list like going on a Grand Canyon helicopter tour, taking a raft down the river, or walk out to the Skywalk to experience one of the world’s Seven Natural Wonders. There are still plenty of times to do the usual gambling, betting, and eating of course. If you still want to go to a club, arrange a VIP experience.

  2. F1 Experience – You’ve seen it on TV, but TV does not do F1 justice. Celebrate a 50th birthday with an F1 Experience in style. Take a tour of the paddock, watch the race in a covered and climate-controlled space, walk the GRID, and enjoy the hospitality options.

  3. Charter a yacht – Imagine you and your closest friends sailing on the Mediterranean stopping off in Portofino, Italy for some lunch, then heading to a hidden beach to enjoy the rest of the day. You don’t have to wait for your chance on Below Deck; you can experience it yourself for your 50th birthday.

  4. South Beach Miami – Another tried and true. I’ve never had a bad time in South Beach Miami. It’s a perfect location to celebrate a 50th birthday. Relax on the beach during the day, head out to some of the best restaurants at night. South Beach is all about the vibes.

  5. Kentucky Bourbon Trail – You are a bourbon fan, what better thing to do than to go bourbon tasting with your friends where the bourbon is actually made and bottled.

  6. Go cruising – There are multiple ways to cruise; it may be time for a river cruise along the Danube River in Europe, cross off a bucket list item to see Antarctica, or take a few months off and take a transatlantic cruise across the world.

  7. Bali – To me, going to Bali is considered a once-in-a-lifetime trip, but I ended up going three times. It is a place you must visit. There are certainly many places like Bali, such as the Maldives, Thailand, Japan, or Vietnam. To me, Bali is a special place. The food, the people, the culture, one of the best places I have visited.

  8. Rent a villa – Rent a villa for your 50th birthday and invite your friends and family to join you. A few places to rent a villa come to mind, including Bali, Tuscany, or Lake Como. Plenty of places to rent a villa, but Asia and Europe come to mind.

  9. Cross off some bucket list items – Let’s revisit that bucket list; maybe you still need to go on a safari. Maybe you need to connect spiritually, then visit Bhutan. You’ve been watching food shows on Netflix and want to check out the food scenes in South Korea or Japan. So many things and plenty of time to check things off.

  10. Hit a major sporting event – I’ve almost completed my Tennis Grand Slam. I’ve been to Wimbledon in England, the French Open in France, and the US Open in New York. I have the Australian Open in Melbourne, Australia, left. Maybe you want to go see a World Cup or the Masters. Why not make that a 50th birthday celebration event.

The way I look at it is, you have the entire year to celebrate your 50th, dont try to time it. It's a milestone of a day, but its more of a milestone of the year. Contact me and schedule a discovery call to plan your 50th birthday celebration.
